657 HOWARD ST. (10-22 HAWTHORNE ST.)

Built in 1922, this building today houses The Goethe Institute at 657 Howard St. and, with Hawthorne St. addresses around the corner, the Michelin-starred restaurant Benu (22 Hawthorne St.), the Berggruen Gallery (10 Hawthorne St.), and Crown Point Press (20 Hawthorne St.). The brick decoration along the cornice and the columns between the upper-storey windows are notable.
